About Dr. Frania
Dr. Stephen Frania is a podiatrist and foot and ankle surgeon who has been treating foot and ankle disorders for more than 25 years. He is Medical Director of the Institute’s Ohio practice and fellowship director at Foot & Ankle Specialists of Ohio, where he sees patients in Mentor and Chardon.
He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1993 from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency at St. Francis Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut. He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot surgery, reconstructive rearfoot surgery and ankle surgery, a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and a founding board member of the American Microsurgical and Orthoplastic Society (AMOS).
Dr. Frania directs a reconstructive surgery and deformity correction fellowship and has trained surgeons over the last ten years who now practice nationally. His surgical focus includes peripheral nerve surgery, muscle flaps and deformity correction. He takes pride in his ability to forge lasting doctor-patient relationships, and makes sure every patient understands their condition and their options before deciding on care.
